Novel Critique - Puppies, Dogs, and Blue Northers
In memory of the famous film critic, Roger Ebert, who died last week, we are going to critique our latest novel. Roger Ebert was famous for his two thumbs up, thumbs in the middle, or two thumbs down movie reviews.
Give me your opinion of the novel with either two thumbs up, in the middle, or down and your reasons why. You may respond to prior comments.
Have fun with it!

This is defiantly not my favorite novel of the year but it did have a good rising action so ill give it a thumbs in the middle

@Jacob,
DeleteWhat was your favorite part of the rising action?
The part Cookie has trouble walking and the sled accident
DeleteThe book was really not one of my favorites. Besides the dramatic ending its not a good book. I definitly wouldnt recomend it to my friends
ReplyDelete@Anthony,
DeleteI really liked the dramatic ending...reminded me a lot of Marley & Me. Too bad you didn't enjoy it...so two thumbs down?
The beginning was very interesting
DeleteI think it would be a middle because there were some ackward parts in it especially in the begging
ReplyDelete@Brian
DeleteHahaha awkward to say the least...
Very awkward to start the book and the chapter is called love too
DeleteI definitely think the beginning was bad....and gross.
DeleteI liked the book except for the beginning and when the puppy died. The end was very sad!
ReplyDeleteIt was very sad the ending and the guy couldn't race anymore either
Deleteya I agree with u brian
DeleteIt's gross how the are :) time and doing certain things its gross
ReplyDelete@Brino,
DeleteOh way to go into detail, Brian :p
what do you mean by it was gross?
DeleteI get what u mean know
Deletedont you mean now
DeleteI liked the beggining before that i never knew where puppies came from :p
DeleteSo I would say middle like Brian because the rest of the book wasn't good except the end.
ReplyDeleteit was kinda confusing in some parts but the end was sad. I don't like how every dod book gas a dog die at end of it like stone fox. it was a preaty good book at the rising action.
ReplyDelete@Loganator,
DeleteI agree! You think they could make one happy dog book :)
My class is finishing up "Where the Red Fern Grows" next week. We then follow up with Gordon Korman's "No More Dead Dogs." It makes a hysterically funny counterpoint to the traditional bawl-your-eyes-out animal novel. I highly recommend it!
DeleteJodi, we red No More Dead Dogs last year and loved it! Next year is "Where the Red Fern Grows" my favorite book ever..tear tear. How do I follow your blog? I didn't see a follow button.
DeleteWe just started The Giver :)
@Sophie,
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like very sound reasoning. Couldn't agree more on the ending...sooo sad :(
The book was pretty sad at the end and gross I would give this book probably a thumbs down it wasn't my favorite but wasn't the worst either
DeleteAm I the only one who liked the ending I mean of course it was sad but you need some sad endings every now and then that is why I liked Where the Red Fern Grows
ReplyDeleteTrue Jacob r u right about that
DeleteI like where the red fern grows but I thought the ending didn't fit the book.
Delete@Jacob
ReplyDeleteI agree with Jacob, I thought the ending was very appropriate since it was the whole life span of cookie. We went from birth...literally all the way to death
@Sophie
I do kind of see your point Sophie that it was kind of a different tone to the book until the very end where in red fern it was building to that point
I know it was so sad when cookie died
