PARENT RESOURCES: The Changing World of Math
If you have cracked open one of our school's Saxon Math textbooks lately, I am sure you have noticed that Math sure has changed a lot since you were in school. The teaching of Mathematics has undergone some hugely fundamental changes over the past decades and it continues evolving.
The link is an article from "Education News" regarding the ever changing landscape that is Mathematics. It is an interesting read, and it shows where Mathematics is headed in the next few years.

I HATE MATH THOUGH ;p
ReplyDeleteSo you should be happy that it is constantly changing :p
ReplyDeleteMath makes you think, work. I can't imagine how dumbing things down and taking out essential areas could be good. I agree with the writer, it doesn't sound good. These common core standards are frightening. Will we live in a world someday where everything has a picture like the McDonalds cash register. I was reading about the The science ones i.e. The Next Generation Science Standards - State boards of education must agree to adopt the Next Gen approach. Incorporation of evolution and climate change, called for by the standards. The article was in U.S. News. I'm so glad we have schools and teachers like LOL.
ReplyDeleteYes, the theory of Common Core is sound, the application has been pitiful.
ReplyDeleteDang thAt is a long comment. I hate the creator of math
ReplyDeleteBut the creator of Math does not hate you...hmmm something to think about, sir.
